MADURAI: A judicial magistrate court in on Tuesday granted unconditional bail to , 22, who was arrested on Monday for raising slogans against the BJP + government at the Centre while she was onboard a flight from Chennai in which party’s state president was also travelling.
Judicial magistrate S Tamilselvi granted unconditional bail to the woman, who is a research scholar in Canada and a native of Tuticorin.
The woman, who is on vacation, was flying from Chennai to Tuticorin on Monday morning. Tamilisai alleged that the girl had raised slogans against the government when they were in the aircraft.
As the girl refused to apologise, the BJP leader lodged a complaint with the airport and airline authorities. A case was registered against the girl at the Pudukottai police station in Tuticorin. Later, the girl was arrested.
On Monday night, the judicial magistrate remanded her in judicial custody. As part of the remand procedures, Sofia was taken to the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital, where she complained of stomach pain and was hospitalised.
She was still in the hospital when the same court granted her bail on Tuesday.
