LUCKNOW: With an array of cultural events such as Ramlila by ballet artists for 55 days, six coffee-table books, 10,000 booklets on significance of Kumbh and a memento of a shining urn containing holy water of the Ganga to be gifted to visiting NRIs, the celebration of Kumbh 2019 will be of an unprecedented scale.
To attract the youth, selfie points will also be created at various places on the Kumbha mela premises. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has already declared that the Kumbh would be a mega, world-class show and a model of good governance for the visiting guests from various countries. Indian embassies in 196 countries will extend the invitation to dignitaries. As Kumbh will last from January to February, it will be a time when campaigns for the next general elections will be on their peak.
The BJP government is determined to showcase the mega event as a success story in its favour.
Already having launched a special Kumbh logo and renamed Ardha Kumbh—a term in use since the Vedic ages—as Kumbh, the BJP government is lavishly spending more than Rs 3,000 crore for the event.
The Ardh Kumha used to be held every sixth year including Allahabad, Nasik and Hardwar and on every 12th year Mahakumbha in Allahabad . But ,the BJP government, is organizing “Ardh Kumbha “ rechristened as “ Kumbha “ which is no less than the Mahakumbha .
Apart from many firsts already — renaming of the Ardh Kumbha into Kumbha, a special logo of this religious festival of the Hindus , Bollywood companies being roped in for aggressive publicity, invitation to the foreign embassies , NRIs’ congregation , another set of firsts finalized by the cultural department includes giving memento in the form of a holy waters of river Ganga in metallic containers , a bag which will have coffee table books , booklet of the history and journey of the Kumbha and holding cultural events spanning 55 days from the day the festival, documentary shows , videos and painting exhibitions will be kicked off till the last holy bath.
Inspecting the preparations for the mega event, chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey on Tuesday asked for an information desk named ‘Atal Corner’ to be set up on the mela grounds.
To spread awareness on the history and significance of Kumbh, a ‘Sanskrit Gram’ will be developed in a 10-acre area.
River ambulance and air ambulance services will be available to deal with emergencies and 2,000 sanitary workers will be deployed, he added. A book fair will also be organised.
Principal secretary Jitendra Kumar said that national and international troupes, along with artists from Bundelkhand and Braj region, were being invited to stage Ramlila and Krishnalila at Kumbh.
Cultural programmes, being organized with cooperation from and in coordination with the Centre, would last for the entire duration of 55 days.
