Regional director P Sivaswaroop addressed the meet.
Sivaswaroop stressed on the theme of the programme. “It is a common belief that education is necessary only till a certain extent till you get a job or till you are settled in life. But, in the present scenario, it has become important to update your knowledge and skills to withstand the never ending competition”, he said.
He appreciated the efforts and willpower of the dignitaries as they managed to add another feather in their cap and pursued their desired degree despite the busy schedules.
Jichkar completed her masters in Psychology, while Tiwari did her MBA from IGNOU. Choosing a completely different course from his profession, Dr Deshmukh took up PG diploma in advanced statistics.
Deshmukh said, “I had keen interest in statistics but I was pushed into medicine due to peer pressure. When I came across the concept of distant learning through IGNOU, I decided to follow my heart and it indeed gave me immense satisfaction. The quality of study material and faculty is really good here and I suggest everyone to make use of this excellent opportunity.”
Jichkar had similar opinions and said, “Education is like meditation for me. Due to my profession, I face the heat of political aggression quite often. Reading has a healing effect on me. I wish to remain a student always.”
Tiwari agreed and added, “You don’t know how capable you are until you face the real pressure. If you really want to achieve your goal, you will do it despite hindrances.”
Speaking about the recent progress made by the Nagpur regional centre, Sivaswaroop said that IGNOU will be developing a green campus on the newly allotted 3,364 sq mts land on Manewada Ring Road. The enrolment rate has also increased by 37% compared to last year.
