THANE: A 45-year-old who allegedly sent obscene messages to an 18-year-old girl from Thane via a mobile messaging service, was traced to by the Thane police.
The accused, who used to live in Mumbra and now works in Malaysia, had used his Indian SIM card to send the obscene messages to the girl for two days, after which she approached her parents, who informed the police.
“The girl‘s parents complained on Tuesday about messages being sent on her phone from an unidentified number. When she blocked the number, the sender used another number to send the messages,” said senior police inspector .. “We traced the number of the accused to Mumbra within four hours of receiving a written complaint by the girl‘s parents. The number was traced to , who had bought the card from a local shop but currently lives in Malaysia.”
Malik works as a labourer in the south Asain nation. A police officer said they made a video call to Malik and reprimanded him. “He apologized. The girl‘s family has not lodged a formal case,” said the officer.
